MINI upgrade kit is an expansion kit for ROBOTIS MINI (https://www.robotis.us/robotis-mini-intl/) humanoid robot for upgrading the capability of the robot. The upgrade kit is composed of a 3D printed frame, a single board computer, a power distribution board, a 5V voltage regulator, an IMU, and a camera, and a U2D2 Serial Communication dongle.
The upgraded robot was operated on Armbian Linux OS and ROS was introduced.
Simulation Package for the robot was also implemented with MATLAB Simscape multi body dynamics simulation.
The robot hardware and the simulation package were distributed to the students for ECE598JK introduction to robotics course. Students can have a hands-on experience to handle the actual humanoid robot hardware, also be able to apply their learnings from the class to the robot and the simulation model.
