About Me
I'm Kevin Gim, currently a Staff Mechanical Engineer at Boston Dynamics, where I work on the hardware design of Atlas, the most advanced humanoid robot in the world.
I received my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign at Kinetic Intelligent Machine Lab (KIMLAB), where my research focused on the development of bio-transcending legged robots—robots that are not limited by biological constraints but still capable of achieving natural, efficient, and robust mobility in human environments.
Over the years, I’ve led and contributed to a wide range of robotics projects—from developing complex mechanical systems and custom robotic hardware to designing and implementing control systems. My expertise spans robot hardware design, mechanism design, structural engineering, FEA analysis, dynamic simulation, mechatronics, and robot control. I take pride in building systems that are not only mechanically robust but also deeply integrated with the software and electronics that bring them to life.
